Time to Relax

Christmas was wonderful as it usually is. We had a lovely time Christmas Eve and then our three girls and their families all came for dinner on Christmas Day. We have since been making the rounds to see everyone's decorations and Christmas cheer.

I've done several pages, last night and today; just been on a roll I guess. It seems so good to have everything done and just be able to do whatever I want to do. After pushing so hard to get Gracie's Christmas dress done, I decided to start her Easter dress a lot sooner and I will have time to smock it. Will probably make one for Teagan for Easter too. She will be big enough by then.

This page of Grace on the slide was photos from Thanksgiving weekend. Hard to believe, only a month ago there wasn't even a hint of snow around here.

This next one is Jenny with her new violin!

Well this has been quite a storm. Three snow days for the kids! We had one day of storm with about 10 inches of snow, but another two days of lake effect with another maybe 18 inches. Gabe is really glad to be retired, he would have been out in it trying to keep the roads clear for the last 3 days! I have had Teagan all week and she was so good I was able to get my cards all finished and then addressed with letters enclosed.

Tomorrow we are going to get up early and go Christmas shopping, buy stamps and maybe even some baking supplies. Then in the afternoon, hopefully, we will get the house all vacuumed and and decorated. It will be a busy weekend, but I hope things will look a lot like the scrapbook page below by Sunday evening! Wish me luck.

I'm not real good at this

Well I was sure I wouldn't let this go this long, but life seems to get in the way. I presently am up to my ears in alligators trying to get ready for Christmas. Don't know what my problem is this year, but am so very unorganized; it is terrible!

We are in the middle of a major winter storm, after little or no snow all of October and November, it actually looks pretty good. Just wish no one had to drive in it. We got about 10 inches to a foot today, and now the lake effect is supposed to kick in so we should get a lot more tonight and tomorrow. That's one thing about living up here, in the almost 40 years I've been here; we've only had one green Christmas, and even that one we had snow by Christmas night.

This must be it for today. I'd better go address Christmas cards now that I finally have them all made!

Post Thanksgiving

I have managed to get my Christmas cards designed and have half of them made. I've started my Christmas letter and have the decorations down from the attic of the garage. I got the fabric for Gracie's Christmas dress today, so I am making progress. : ) Somehow, amazing as it seems, I always manage to get everything done on time. I really haven't figured that out yet, but I think maybe I have a guardian angel that sews or something!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Jenny and Steve hosted it at their home this year and I had a glorious time just being a guest instead of doing the whole dinner. We all chipped in and brought different dishes and we had a fantastic meal. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family.

37

I just figured it out and there are only 37 days till Christmas. Guess I'd better get busy and do some serious planning. I haven't even designed my cards yet, so I guess that will be the project for this weekend. I do so love Christmas. This year will be even more special, because our oldest daughter and her husband have moved back home from Memphis. It will be wonderful.

New week

My new job started last Friday. My youngest, Betsy, has gone back to work and I have the delightful job of looking after wee Teagan. I think we will do wonderfully as I think she is a gift from heaven and she seems to think Nana is pretty special too. It is going to be fun. I didn't quit the Library completely . . . will still be working on Monday night and Wednesday night; and doing all the graphic stuff and PR work, some of it from home.

Gabe has the violin all finished and is now starting to learn to play. I think he is doing rather well, but our Maggie has a bit different opinion. I will try to capture her reaction and do a page on it. She is so funny.

Joy and blessings,

Lainie

Moving in

Since Yahoo/Geocities closed their free websites in October I haven't had a cyber home. My website "Best Friends" had been up and evolving since about 1997. I had written all the html, done it with Windows 95 and a dial-up connection, and was very proud of it. After searching for and not really coming up with a new place to do another website, my daughter Jenny suggested that I try doing a blog, so here I am!

The name of this blog pretty much describes my life. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband, four marvelous children, my precious Brittany - Maggie, and six grandchildren that are just the joy of my life. God is so good.

I hope to include some scrapbook pages, some good recipes, maybe some of my favorite quotes and being a Librarian, some suggestions for a good read. I will try to keep up with this and not bore you too much.
Joy and blessings,
Lainie
